Le Moraiole Country House is located in the heart of the Parchi della Val di Cornia, where archaeological parks, museums and beautiful natural environments tell a thousand-year history of the ancient Etruscans and testifies to centuries of mining and processing of metals also through suggestive guided tours in the mine.
The system includes 2 Archaeological Parks, 4 Natural Parks, 3 Museums, 1 Documentation Centre.
We point of particular interest and proximity to our hotel the Parco Interprovinciale di Montioni (8 km) which extends between the Valley of Cornia and Pecora. The aspect that predominates is the typical fauna.
In the park we also find ancient monuments, such as the Pievaccia (fortified religious building of the X-XI century), the remains of Montioni Castle and ancient Etruscan and Roman villages, but above all the alum quarries with its mining village, created in 1809 by Elisa Bonaparte, which included the homes of miners and a palace for the residence of the princess, remains are still visible.
One of the most important parks in the area is the Geoparco delle Colline Metallifere that extends over the territory of seven municipalities in the north of the Province of Grosseto, including the municipality of Massa Marittima. This technological and archaeological park is aimed to the recovery, preservation and development of the historical-cultural heritage and technical-scientific Metalliferous Hills.
On the territory there are several hiking and mountain biking: following them you will have the opportunity to enjoy unique environments.
A few kilometers from our hotel you can reach the Parco Archeologico del Lago dell’Accesa (20 km), an area of natural interest along which different equipped path extend and explanatory panels that help to interpret the traces of the Etruscan.
Along a few km more to the south we advise the Parco Naturale Regionale della Maremma (80 km), a wide coastal protected area of Tuscany that extends from Principina a Mare to Talamone which includes all the required Monti dell’Uccellina along with a complex composition of different ecosystems.
Within the numerous activities are carried out park including bird watching, guided tours, walks on horseback, cycling and canoeing routes for people with physical disabilities.
